Joseph Chamberlain

Joseph Chamberlain, born in 1961, is a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. His parents were Earl Fredrick and Myrtle Saint Pierre of Greenwood, South Dakota. Joseph is a self taught artist and has worked in the medium of Pen & Ink for most of his career. Joseph also dabbles in watercolor and acrylic drawings. As a multi-talented artist, Joseph also sculpts his own dolls and fabricates all of their regalia. Joseph seeks his inspiration from stories he remembers hearing as a young child. He hopes the images that he produces portray certain traditions that have been handed down generation to generation. They also tell stories about what makes his people who and what they are from beginning to end. Joseph also feels very strongly about passing on our teachings to our young. Joseph is also involved in the Native community promoting sobriety and well-being. His travels have also taken him across the United States, but he has called Tulsa, Oklahoma home since 1979.
